History:
Grand Theft Auto IV (commonly abbreviated as GTA IV or GTA 4) is a console-style action-adventure sandbox developed by Rockstar North. The game, preceded by Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is the ninth title in the Grand Theft Auto series and the first to appear in the same seventh-generation consoles. It was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Australia, Europe and North America on April 29, 2008 and in Japan on October 30, 2008. The Windows version of the game was released in North America on December 2, 2008 and in Europe on 3 December. Developed two downloadable episodes for Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3, the first was The Lost and Damned, released on February 17, 2009, and the second was The Ballad of Tony Gay, who was released on October 29, 2009 .
The game story runs in Liberty City, a fictional city based heavily on modern day New York City. The protagonist of the story is Niko Bellic, a war veteran from Eastern Europe, who immigrated to America in search of the American dream promised by his cousin, but soon is drawn into a criminal underworld. As in other editions of the series, the game is composed of elements of driving and shooting in the third person, and has a set of "open world" gameplay that gives players more control over their gaming experience. GTA IV is the first console game in the series to feature an online multiplayer mode natively without mods, and contains fifteen different types of game.
